Institute of CPD Training Programmes

The CPD Institute offers four key programmes to support professional development, adult learning, CPD and legislative compliance.

1. Professional Development Essentials

This programme provides professionals and managers with the skills and knowledge to apply thinking, planning and reflective processes and development plans for career goals. 

Under the guidance of an expert coach, this training programme provides the building blocks and knowhow for effective professional development, and enables participants to create personal and professional development plans.  This programme covers the following topics: 

  • Identify and evaluating personal, strengths, and competencies through CPD  
  • Building supportive professional relationships through inter generational learning and mentoring
  • Creating a personal and professional development plan for performance appraisals.
  • Understanding the cornerstone behaviours, aptitude and attitudes of professionalism
  • Expanding and map networks of workplace relationships and professional contacts 
  • Developing reflective practice techniques for learning and development

2. CPD & Learning Compliance in the Workplace

This programme provides professionals, instructors, managers and HR departments with up to date knowledge on CPD and learning compliance in the workplace. 

By understanding government requirements for adult learning, participants will be able to design compliant learning and development strategies for both SMEs and global organisations.  

Over a series of chapters, this programme covers: 

  • An introduction to national and global workplace CPD policy and compliance requirements
  • Designing training interventions encompassing varied learning styles and preferences across hybrid teams
  • Government legislation and employer responsibilities for adult learners including; disability discrimination, equal opportunities,  data protection and diversity and inclusion initiatives.
  • Developing learning and development pathways that encompasses reasonable adjustments for neurodiverse colleagues
  • Leveraging adult learning strategies for Diversity and Inclusion Initiatives (DEI)
  • Designing and delivering ‘train the trainer’ resources to ensure robust, reliable and consistent training experiences. 
  • Selection and implementation of training interventions for a global learning and development strategy. 

3. Designing and Teaching Continuing Professional Development Courses

This programme is designed to assist CPD educators build the skills and knowhow for delivering courses. As the driving force for CPD course delivery, educators play a critical role in shaping and changing professional knowledge and skill development.   

This programme is recommended for new and established CPD educators, including online and e:courses, and inhouse or public face to face instructor-led courses.  It provides a road-map and blueprint for course design and delivery to ensure positive, successful and impactful training interventions.

  • Introduction to CPD policies and procedures across industries and disciplines
  • Understanding CPD jargon and learning terminologies
  • Relevant legislation and legal requirements for delivering CPD courses
  • Creating instructor handbooks and guidelines for consistent delivery
  • Designing and awarding CPD certificates 
  • Guidelines for designing course outlines and agendas within a CPD capacity 
  • Designing workshop resources including presentation slides, handbooks 
  • Utlising coaching and mentoring methodologies as additional techniques
  • Understanding evaluation mechanisms and reflective practice

4. The Psychology and Physiology of Learning

This programme for CPD educators raises the bar of professional practice.  By understanding the scientific foundations of psychology and neuroscience of learning and professional development, CPD educators can design effective training interventions that deliver positive impact and change.  

Under the guidance of an expert instructor, this programme provides a wider understanding for optimising scientific findings and data when designing professional development activities.

  • Neuroscience, cerebral and cognitive advances in understanding adult skill development
  • An introduction to Bloom’s Taxonomy and learning domains for learning synthesis 
  • Transforming training concepts to impactful physical and mental learning
